Taiwan AI Labs Enhances Artistic Universe with Time Tunnel Immersive Experience at National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts
2022.04.19
Taiwan AI Labs, in collaboration with National Kaohsiung Center(衛武營) for the Arts, has created the first immersive "Hall-Theater Virtual Reality Interactive Tour" at the Time Tunnel in the Crown Hall. With over 70,000 participants to date, the experience utilizes "touch-free" sensing devices, ensuring both safety and entertainment. This initiative transforms the public's perception of the stadium Quadrangle's stage. Additionally, centered around collaborative art, the AI-generated drawing tree experience complements the architectural imagery of the stadium, offering a continuous array of diverse services to create a delightful cultural and artistic experience for all.
During the grand event on April 19th, announcing the upgrade of the "Hall-Theater Virtual Reality Interactive Tour," Taiwan AI Labs founder, Ethan Tu(杜奕瑾), personally guided and explained the creative concept. He expressed, "When I first heard about the architectural concept of National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, I found it very interesting and impressive. The architect was inspired by a banyan tree grove, creating the unique architectural structure of the stadium. This also provided our team with excellent inspiration." The "Collaborative Art Interactive Wall Zone," utilizing the latest AI technology, has been experienced by over 10,000 people. Participants can draw a personalized banyan tree, which, when combined, forms a collective "Banyan Grove" on the building, attracting both children and adults to try this interactive fun.
In addition to the collaborative art zone, the "Hall-Theater Virtual Reality Interactive Tour" optimizes on-site equipment and backstage programs to provide visitors to the Time Tunnel with a smoother and more complete interactive tour experience. With a cumulative total of 270,000 interactions, visitors can now delve deeper into understanding the unique architecture of Weiwuying and feel the impact of the Quadrangle's stage and audience seating. Ethan Tu stated, "The immersive indoor tour, using 360 panoramic scenes to create virtual settings, along with motion detection and interactive functions, allows audiences not only to immerse themselves in the environment but also to explore freely. This concept aligns with the idea of the metaverse, allowing people to explore in the most realistic way possible."
National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Artistic Director Chien Wen-Pin(簡文彬) remarked, "How to attract friends of different ages and backgrounds into the venue is a major challenge. In order to be closer to the concept of the 'People's Arts Center,' starting from the Taiwan Lantern Festival, we have adopted 'fashion' and 'youth' as development strategies, planning a series of activities, including the collaboration with Taiwan AI Labs' Yating Smart Team on the 'Hall-Theater Virtual Reality Interactive Tour' in the Time Tunnel. This aims to evolve the hardware and software of the stadium, preserving the historical significance of it while incorporating new AI interactive technology. We hope to attract more people into the venue to experience the Time Tunnel, rich with fun and knowledge!"
To coincide with this initiative, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts has launched a photo-worthy contest. From April 21st to May 19th, participants who upload a photo taken at the interactive installation in the Time Tunnel to Facebook or Instagram, check in at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts landmark, and leave a comment saying, "I participated in the virtual reality interactive tour at the Time Tunnel," along with the link to the post or a screenshot of the post, can enter a draw for exciting prizes by commenting on the designated stadium’s Facebook post.
